Päiväkirja - Gregorio C, 01 helmi 19

Well, (I feel I can share this here....) my clothes are not fitting anymore, they're too tight. I feel like a slug. I am going to cut out sugar. BUT... my husband is a dietitian and he supports whatever I do :). But he does clarify that I do not need to go 100% no sugar. The key is processed sugar: cookies and candy. What do you do to lower (or eliminate) sugar? How do you crave your sweet tooth (or teeth, in my case)? Thanks! My fast diet continues, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I make a Stevia Extract (like making a really strong tea) from the ground Stevia leaves, and use that in my coffee and tea. It helps. I still prefer sugar in my coffee but for now I endure it. When I was traveling I found a Stevia+Xylitol mix that was okay.

Can you eat fruit on your plan? I like a few different berries that taste sweet - you will get used to the change once you get off the processed sugar

Sugar is sugar, and goes by over 50 names. I avoid it, whether "natural" or not, and eat mostly berries and tomatoes for my fruits. It's scandalous how much gets added to processed foods - I even found it was added to my lock grocery store's fresh Italian sausage!

There are some great chocolate options from Lilly, Valor, etc. that are stevia sweetened. Also, if you love , ice cream and cheesecake there are great recipes using stevia or Swerve. I can't use the artificial sweeteners, especially sucralose and aspartame, so had to find alternatives, too.

I had to cut it (white, raw & fake sugars of all kinds) out completely to really lose the taste for it. After I cut it out for 2 weeks, I could taste sugar in bread. I eat things like dried organic mango when I catch a craving.

As long as you eat sugar or sugar substitutes you will crave the sweet. I generally find that 3 days is the threshold-- on the 3rd day I am not craving the sweet. Now vegetables supply lots of the sweet and occasionally I'll have fruit. If I succumb to a sugary something I find it is another 3 days to get past the cravings.

I removed most of the sugar from my diet (like 90%) and greatly reduced the carbs due to a health condition. I use Swerve to cook with and I have found a number of sugar free alternates that are pretty good. I like Choc Zero for chocolate cravings. It is based largely on my personal tastes - I have tried things that others thought were awesome and I didn't like them. it comes down to trial and error to find what you like.
