I would like to lose about 20kgs, and would like to do it by may next year 2014.
I am trying to lose about 500 calories per day by walking on my treadmill...
I want to eat less calories than I burn...

Good Luck! Just stick with it.. put your treadmill in front of your tv with your favourite thing to watch :)

My experience: Firstly, when you calculate your RDI choose the sedentry lifestyle (that way you know how much cals you can have on the days you don't get to the treadmill). Try to keep your cals lower than this RDI. Secondly, the best way to be accountable is to record all your intake every day (even on the bad days). I am not much of an exerciser (I try, but mostly it is 2 hours of Pilates a week). I lost 10kg in six months, so it is really possible to reach your goal! You will need some patience, but the rewards is wonderful! Best wishes on your journey!

I'd rather say keep your RDI as low as possible, that way when you have a cheat day or you're not in the mood to go to the gym, you realise that you have to work harder the next day and then try to go to the gym in the future so you never go into the red. And well done and good luck to you im 100% sure you will be able to do this with enough determination and self discipline!

wow, thanks for the encouragement! im trying really hard, eat salads for lunch, cereal for breakfast and normal dinner...im down 7,3kgs and want to lose 10kgs in total by December...
