I'm on the road for work, and instead of having a couple of beers at the hotel bar, I had a salad with some salmon and a cup of beef barley soup, then got on the treadmill after it digested a little :)

Even though I've been dieting for a while, I only recently started exercising at home with my xbox Kinect. First regular exercise I've gotten in many years, sadly. I was curious to see how the Kinect exercise would actually improve my condition.

The last time I did any running at all, I was able to go about....a quarter block before getting winded and giving up.
Well, I just went for 50 minutes, on a variable program that was mostly inclines from 4 to 9 percent, and I maintained a speed of 3 to 5 mph the whole time, about 50/50 jogging and fast walking. Made it about 3 miles.
I was sweating a lot, but actually felt -good- and was tempted to keep walking another 20 or 30 minutes.

Yeah, moving 3 miles isn't an amazing accomplishment, but jogging for over a mile straight is something I haven't done in probably 20 years.
And being ready to keep going when the time was up felt great!

I can't believe what a difference just 5 or 6 weeks makes - I can't wait to see how I feel in 6 months or a year, if I can keep this up. It feels great to be finally able to move again!
