So, I'm 36 now and not getting any younger. About a year and a half ago I lost a ton of weight and was only about 10-15 lbs from my goal, but then I went through a divorce and started a new relationship and gained 35 lbs! Now I have to start all over agian, and seriously, I am tired of it. Not to mention that when the SHTF last year I started smoking again, so now I have to try dieting AND quitting smoking at the same time which is next to impossible. Still, I think my life is finally leveling out and I'm ready to make the commitment agian. Wish me luck!

When I went through my divorce 4 yrs ago I gained about 70 lbs. A year and a half ago I met a wonderful man and got married again (something I swore I'd never do again). I'm forever telling my staff 'don't come into my office complaining if you don't have a solution' and I realized I was constantly complaining about my weight and doing nothing about it. I've replaced that with positive self talk - putting positive post-its on the fridge, on the bathroom mirror at home and work, and what's helped the most is journaling. Fir the first time I'm actually excited about meeting my exercise challenges - 14 miles on a bike, personal trainer, walking. The point I'm taking forever to make is - don't focus on dieting and trying to quit smoking - focus on you're taking control of your life and doing something good for yourself! It's a huge lifestyle change and you're committed to doing something about it - YAY YOU!! Just my 2 cents:)

Alice0213, Thanks for sharing, you make some very good points. I guess I should start by saying that "diet" wasn't the word I should have used. I used to have a very different lifestyle before my divorce. I was vegan, had a personal trainer and an amazing gym to go to and time to do it. I was very health concious and spent a great deal of time (and money) on buying healthy food. When my husband and I split up I could no longer afford any of those things so I stopped working out, started eating cheap junk, and basically just got depressed and gave up. When I met my current boyfriend, things got ALOT better, but he is a big food lover and so we have been having a love affair with food together(He never gains though)! Anyway, just decided to go back to my healthful way of eating and excercising. I have enjoyed the junk food, but my body has not, and I am ready to feel healthy again. And good for you for taking your own advice and doing something about how you felt. I also like your idea of post it notes!
