I've seen this saying several times on the socials and it goes something like, don't compare your day one with someone else's day hundred. I find that saying helpful because it's easy to look at someone who has accomplished what you have just started out to pursue. That individual might be inspirational to you. The other side of the inspiration can bring sense of inadequacy in you as you may feel like you cannot do what they did or do for various reasons. Reasons like, they are way more disciplined than me, x seems so easy for them, I could never do that etc. The saying also reminds me that they are where they are partly because they have put in the time. So time is part of the ingredients I need to add. Something's we don't get to see is good often they also messed up at the beginning. How many times they failed and had to get up, dust themselves off and try again. The struggles they had to overcome and most importantly, the recurring hard choices they had to make. Being disciplined is not easy especially when starting something new or different. the temptation to take the easy or familiar route is highly tempting. Anyway, I say so this to remind myself that I am also just starting out so I should give myself some slack. Another reminder I want to give myself is that they ahead of me are there because they did the difficult things which they also probably did not want to at the time. You really have to go through it, you truly have to put in the hard work to get to the other side. You can't just pretend or only show up when it feels easy and comfortable. You have to put in the work day in and day out no matter what. Think of this as a slow burn. No extremes here. It is that daily grind of doing what you have to do each day. It's not the doing more to make up for missed days. It's also not about perfection but rather consistency over the long-term.
