I'm curious about what constitutes a cheat day. My family is requesting homemade sweet and sour chicken. But the sauce has an obscene amount of sugar in it. 1 cup of sugar in what ends up being about 3.5 cups of sauce. And that's not counting the natural sugars in the 1.25 cups of pineapple juice in it. Granted, one serving ends up being about 1/4C of sauce. I haven't had sugar since I started this diet. But I know myself, if I make the dish, I WILL eat some of it. I love sweet and sour chicken. And I don't want to sabotage my progress. Any suggestions on how to make them happy without making myself miserable or sabotaging my diet would be appreciated.

can you make a lower sugar version for yourself in a small pot? then throw the chicken in an air fryer instead of frying it? have long have you been dieting? if its been a while, i say do the cheat meal and start fresh tomorrow tracking calories and stuff again. it's my kids favorite too, we haven't had it in over a year. when they go to their grandparents they usually con them into ordering Chinese. 🤣

I've been dieting since January 13th, about 3 weeks. I've lost just 15.5 pounds since then. Averaging around 1000-1200 calories per day. Hitting 1200 is a struggle because the phentermine kills my appetite. Doesn't take much to make me feel overly full. So I probably wouldn't eat much of it. But still, I don't want to start craving sugar again. Those first few days of my diet were rough.

I’ve found a lot of recipes are fine with half the sugar. I think I’d make it and have a taste of it but eat a larger portion of chicken and steamed veggies. I make a veggie side with every dish. I’ll eat it and everyone can have it, but they don’t normally eat it. Then I have leftovers for the next day.
