I have a new favorite exercise--shopping for clothes! I have been looking forward to this day for _months_, and yesterday, my husband and child sauntered down to the mall with me (walking, of course!). I needed a new dress to wear to my husband's work Xmas party, and he often doesn't like the things I pick out, so he offered to come with me and help look. I picked out a LBD, all black except for a couple of zirconia-studded rings on the neck strap. Really, is is shaped almost like the famous white Marilyn Monroe dress from "Seven Year Itch", with a fairly full skirt (so flattering to the hips!) a wide waist (so flattering to the short-waisted!), and no closures to struggle with--just goes right on over the head. Size 12(!) and looks great on, but will still look perfectly fine when there are a couple of lbs. less of me. *And* when my family got tired of shopping and went home, I bought a beautiful size 12 gold (i.e. maize, not shiny gold) suede skirt, and 3 pairs of pants. Sadly, I was not 100% thrilled with the fit of size 12, so I had to go to the next size--and came home with 3 pairs of size 10(!!) pants!! It was the most thrilling experience I have ever had in a fitting room, and it _almost_ makes up for the years of defeat I have suffered there.

Three cheers for me! And cheer for yourself today, any fellow traveler who reads this. You can *so* do this--maybe not every single hour of every single day, but more often than not, and enough to see significant results over time. There is no "magic bullet", and no way to cheat the system. Changing and managing your weight takes some work, but it is totally worth it in the long run. There is no end to this journey, but there are many beautiful sights to see on the way.
