Päiväkirja - Hipaagrammy, 06 elo 17

Blessed Sunday my friends,

GoodMan and I are heading downstate in a little while to visit my 90-year-old mother and later attend a "Senior Prom" put on by my older sister. She expects about 75 people to attend. I plan to see a couple of other sisters and a brother there too. That's almost all of the siblings. It's nice to have an excuse to see everyone. The plan was to go to church this morning before we left but GoodMan didn't get moving fast enough this morning. So I suggested we listen to Pastor's sermon (Podcast) on the way home.

I have packed a cooler with cold waters and keto appropriate lunch and snack items. I also made some homemade potato salad to take to my mom because she mentions how much she misses stuff like that when I talk to her on the phone. My siblings downstate do Mom's grocery shopping and they take her to the doctor and even to church sometimes, but they all have jobs so they don't do a lot of home cooking for her. When she lived up here by me I would make our dinner every night and then take a plate to her and watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with her. I'm not sure if she misses the home cooked meals or the company, but all I can offer today is an hour or so visit and a container of potato salad. She is always sweetly grateful for everything everyone does for her.

I have no idea what my sister is serving at her party tonight so I packed extra cheese and deviled eggs and some cauliflower hummus. I also tried a recipe for keto/gluten free/sugar free chocolate chip cookies last night. I had one. They were okay. I think I'll change some things up next time, but I am bringing some with me so if I get too tempted by sweet stuff at the party I can have a keto treat. I don't know if it will really be an issue though, because I haven't really been craving anything or even what I would call tempted by anything for quite a while now.

Thanks Wholefoodnut, it was a good day. I made good food choices and enjoyed my time with family. Six hours of driving (round trip) has worn me out so I'm off to bed. Hope your day was lovely.

Great plan for managing food at a gathering. Folks are just comfortable when you have something on your plate. Sometimes they want what you have though...:-D

Grammy, happy for you that you had a good day. 6 hours of driving can make anyone tired. Agreed Horseshu1 in most cases, though often they will try to convince you that you need to eat like they are.

Grammy, my mom is almost 95 YO and we have our meals every night with her and Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, too!! The routine comforts her and she guesses quite a few of the Wheel of Fortune answers! She loves her potato salad, too ... and I have made her the low carb version with cauliflower. She has no idea.
