Another bad day for walking. This time it is the rain. But I did go to Huntsville and shopped for shoes. Also went to sams. So I got a few steps in. Very few. I’ve been thinking about online dating. I’m very lonely and am simply the type of person who does much better when part of a relationship. But I don’t know if I have the energy for it. Maybe it is better to continue focusing on myself for a while. I feel as if I need to find my personality. Right now I don’t like myself much. I am boring. I desperately need to expand my interests. I need to find something to do on rainy days. I like to read sometimes but right now I don’t want to do that (it is not unusual for me to go in spurts of reading and not reading). I don’t like TV. Don’t knit or crochet. What do you guys do on rainy days?

I'm hot and cold with the reading too. But I'm analitical so I love to find out the "why" about everything. So it's still reading but mostly researching. Retired now so it's different when I was younger did a lot of volunteering. Anything from candystriper in high school to fund raisers when the kids were in school. I use to sew clothes when my daughter was young to making quilts. Love woodworking my Dad was a shipjoiner at the Boston Naval Shipyard for 40 years. He worked on restoring Old Ironsides during that time. As for online dating you have to be real careful. I like your attitude about taking care of you first. What ever you decide I know you'll do great at it!

I binge watch DVDs. Just finished watching 6 seasons of "The Closer". Hadn't seen it in about 3-4 years. I have a lot of DVDs. I did online dating about 15 years ago. I met lots and lots of men, ended up with 2 relationships over about 4-5 years. Got my heart broken and then had a rebound relationship. Met lots of nice men, that I saw maybe once or twice more. Lots of nice men that I had absolutely nothing in common with. About half of the men we could tell immediately there was no interest, but we made it through a coffee date. Sometimes I was interested and he wasn't, and sometimes he was interested in me and I had no interest. I've thought about trying it again at some point, when I have more confidence in my appearance. It seems like I met men that where looking for women who were size 4 even though they weren't in good shape themselves. And at the time, I was a size 8 and often felt fat! I'm finding walking and hiking groups where there are lots of men and women, both single and married but that is a great way to meet people who like to do what I like to do. I doubt that you are boring! I sometimes feel that way, I like to do jigsaw puzzles in the winter and actually found a friend who loves doing them too!

I guess I can be called retired now too. Disabled is the technical term. Really bad back and what was a sedentary job don’t mix. I can’t sit or stand much more than 15 mins without serious pain. So I have to either lay flat or walk. Hard to read when you are flat. Hard to do much of anything except watch TV which I hate and play on my phone which causes my hand to go numb 😊. Woe is me. It really seems as if I am not living unless I am moving, going someplace, shopping etc. and that is no way to live. I desperately need to learn to do something alone and at home. I used to like puzzles but that too is something that simply hurts to try to do and it isn’t something I want to do ALL the time. I had thought that my retirement would be spent living on my horses, traveling with a partner, messing with cows, etc. but all of that is now gone and I have seen my personality go with it. I’m trying to meet new people and join a couple clubs. Good things for sure. But it doesn’t kill the time spent at home. Sadly I understand the hoarders with online shopping addictions and the online gamblers. Without a hobby/solitary pursuit time passes by very slowly. And I can’t even self sooth with food!!!! 😢😡

Have you checked out meetup.com? They have groups all over, I think you just need your zip code. That's where I found walking and hiking groups. They also have groups for all kinds of interests, people with a certain breed of dog, or book groups, even groups that go out to eat together. Lots of social groups.

Yes. I have checked meetup. But they don’t have anything where I live. Everything is an hour away. I live in a nice little commuter town. For many years people either farmed or had to work an hour away either to the north or the south. We are half way between 2 of the larger cities in the state. People lived here because the city school system is very good and the crime is very low and (sadly) because the diversity was nonexistent. I’ve joined a couple Facebook groups and am meeting with a hiking group next week. Also have had an offer to go on a hike with another person. I’m excited about these opportunities. But they are not home based activities. It seems everything I want to do includes another person. That is my big problem. Id like to learn to sew but my back would never allow that. I need to learn to like TV or drug myself up enough to sleep 20 hrs a day. Lol

I belong to a square dance group which meets 2 or 3 times a week. On rainy days that are not dance days, I wander around Homegoods store and imagine some of the things in my home but rarely buy anything unless I need a gift or some fancy cookies or other foods they have there. The meetups are good too - lots of single people in the groups and maybe you would find different friends not just someone to date

@abbadabba square dancing sounds like fun. Do you dress up in those poofy skirts?? We don’t have anyplace around here to wander through except Walmart. I go there rather often and spend too much money 😊. I should probably learn to crochet or knit or something that a respectable lady would do but I’m not good with my hands and who wants to be respectable anyway. Lol

On rainy days (which is often considering I live in Oregon) I like to stay cuddled in a fuzzy blanket and draw to my heart's content :)

I'm so sorry your feeling down. I'm feeling down myself. its rainy here and tomorrow its gonna rain too. I like to walk but lately I haven't. been having problems with my hip. and gain tons of weight so that made me more depressed . I also like to read. but I'm like you lately. I like to color you can try that. if you ever need to talk to someone in hear firvyoy.

Coloring sounds fun but I probably would need to sit for that. I can’t draw even a stick so that is out for me. I might get some colors and try that though. Thanks!

You are so right! I always say if you don't feel "enough" without something/someone, you won't feel enough with it/them. On a rainy day I stretch, jump rope, or practice self defense. There's some great yoga and stretching videos on YouTube when I run out of ideas :)

I play word games on my tablet, read, look for new recipes, and do housework. The dogs are good for me as they always need to be played with. I am going to try making soap for a hobby. I just need to get some goggles before I try the first batch. You can buy products that don't require lye so then you just melt the base, add color, scents and it sounds easy. Music gets me moving and cheers me up when I feel down. Hope you find an interest that keeps your attention.

I create dream catchers or design t-shirts and yes I bought a heat press so I could print them. I also read and play a few games online. My suggestion would be to take time to be content with you or you will never feel complete. Try soft music and meditation. If any thoughts come to you during the meditation - you may have flashes of people/situations - write them down. Later when you have a bored minute take the note out and ponder what Spirit is trying to tell you.

I refuse to be depressed, literally l do and the same should go for you, it only takes you down dark alley ways where no one needs to go.l would always say when asked..lts easy to be depressed but it's harder to stay positive and that's worth living for. You people seem to pick and choose the negatives from their lives, because it's easier but what about all the positives in your life you know you have alot, sure in ones life we've made mistakes and blunders but we've also have done good and touched people's lives, ya it's all there all those good times tucked away on those shelves no matter how large or small it's endless. So l refuse to be depressed, walk on the positive side walk in the light p.s. Didn't mean to say so much but l felt you were sad and l just wanted to give you a hand up.☺
