I am a 52 year old woman. I am 5'2". I have weighed as much as 240. I have been heavy all my life and was first put on a diet by a Dr. when I was about 11 years old. Most of my family are heavy. I feel like I have been on a diet all of my life. I have weighed as little as 121 when I was 18. I have the most success in losing on Atkins. I lost over 50 pounds a few years ago on the Atkins diet but eventually began craving apples and whole wheat bread so bad I gave it up. I started low fat dieting and gained a lot of the weight back. I am hoping to be successful with the South Beach Diet since it contols carbs but I will be able to have some fruit and whole grains after Phase 1. I have a great job as a social worker and I am in a relationship with a terrific guy that loves me and supports me no matter what my size. I have also been lucky enough to find a Dr. that says as long as I'm healthy he will not harass me over my weight. My weight went up to 230 this winter before I became desperate enogh to try a low carb diet again. I currently weigh 224.
