ASIAN PEARS! They taste like a pear, but have the texture of a very crisp apple! They are SOOOO delicious! I should be the national chairperson on the "Promote an Asian Pear" Committee (if there IS one). Whenever I go to the grocery store and they have a good price, I just can't HELP myself - I MUST tell everyone around me about their deliciousness! I had been to Kroger a couple days ago (not the one nearest me), and I bought three GIANT ones! Yesterday, I went to the local Kroger, and THEY had the gargantuan ones, also - for $.99 EACH! Usually, they are $2.49 for ones HALF this size. They have a lot of carbs, but also a lot of FIBER. For perspective, that backsplash behind them is 4" tall. I peel them, core them, and slice them up. The one I had today was SO huge that I only ate half, and gave the other half to a friend. I ALSO took one to my PCP's nurse, and she was going to cut it up and let everyone in the office try it. These things are worth "hoarding carbs" all day to be able to fit in for a great evening snack! 200g of slices 7.2g Fiber and 14.10 Net Carbs. These are a healthy reward I can give myself for a job well done! I even choose them OVER an Atkins Endulge Bar that tastes like a Mounds or a Snickers!
