Sharon you request has been granted. Damages of the past week recorded. As you can see, I went up and I'm back down a bit. Still in the range. All is well in that area.

Sleep was not so good last night. I appear to be on the every other night plan. That means I have a good night's sleep to look forward to I hope.

No major news on the FIL front other than he is very weak and reportedly not doing so well at home. Today Bob will attempt to get in touch with the doctors and find out what the "real" plan is for his care. FIL and fake MIL and uncle have very different stories. Frustrating. And all because FIL and fake MIL want to be "independent." There is independence and then there is foolishness. I believe they have erred on the side of foolishness. Fake MIL is pretty scattered, overwhelmed, and I believe frightened. Makes sense. Hopefully Bob will be able to learn something helpful today.

Busy day ahead for me at work. I plan on bringing home reports to work on from home tomorrow rather than going into the office. Much quieter and easier to work from home. The bonus is I don't have to get dressed so early!! LOL!!

We are both, Bob and I, still feeling very tired, stressed, and a little baffled at all the toilet swirling of late. And yet, we are doing okay. We humans are capable of dealing with a lot. I am ever grateful of what we have and who we are with each other.

The cake. I am taking the cake to work today, putting it in the break room, and letting the natives have at it!! Bob's request actually. If it isn't here I won't eat it!!

I didn't get to my grateful list yesterday ... here it is for today ...

1. cereal with a banana ...
2. coffee (I know it makes my grateful list often)
3. staff meeting yesterday that didn't make me more nuts
4. an unexpected coffee date with a colleague because of a no show (skinny caramel latte ... YUM)(okay ... different kind of coffee so it does count!!!)
5. waking up from a bad dream and realizing it was just a dream
6. snuggling with my Doberman last night and admiring how relaxed he is
7. listening to my husband fall asleep
8. only SEVEN more radiation treatments to go
9. being able to "dump" on friends and family
10. putting on my size 12 Tommy Hilfiger pants this morning and realizing they still fit (even with cake, chili-cheese fries, and a several day eating frenzy)

Time to make my lunch and snacks for the day. I'll be eating on the road today so everything needs to be portable. No soup today!!! Very difficult to eat soup while you drive!!

May the sun shine of each of you today!! I may not have time to check in on you but know that you are near and dear to me and I am ever grateful for each of you!! Take care my friends!

Take care too Moose! I'm glad to see the swirling is slowing down a little bit and only 7 treatments left! Hang in there, you're at the end of this dark tunnel, you'll see the light very soon. Let this sun shine on your day, and think about Mexico!

Your weight it just doing that up down thing that it does so perfectly! See no need to worry, since you KNOW it will go back down, of course only having the chili fries once, NOT every hour heehe. So glad you sound good today. The longer list seems to help me see you super happy.

Good move with the cake. Dunno but, I think you should make a little space for yourself, alone. It might give you a moment to recenter a bit after all that has been going on. Hang in there moose.

Good morning my dear Carol! Once upon a time, there were days where I could read your journals every single day and feel like I could keep up and be a part of your day to day life. I miss those days! With school and now work, I am a bit overwhelmed and I find myself neglecting the internet a lot. But you and my fs buddies, are always in my thoughts. Believe me, always. On your journal today: Congrats on leaving the cake behind ;] Coffee often makes my life as well! I blame work. I NEVER drank it before. Sometimes chili-cheese fries happen. We know this. We're good, we're alright. Your jeans still fit. You're staying strong for Bob. I'm proud of you :]

How sweet you are! Wishing us sunshine when you are experiencing such troubled times! You are the best! I love your double list of 5 to equal 10. As for the toilet swirling episodes in the family - please take comfort in knowing that every family contains those pot-stirring relatives. I know mine certainly does. The ability to smile sadly - laugh a little - and say "it stinks" when it really does is a true gift! You have that gift. Hugs for you and your hubby's dad - hug-hug-hug-hug-hug!

Hi Moose! I thought of you when I read this and didn't know how to post the link. Sorry it is so long! Hope it helps! . Print This Story .Top 10 foods for a good night's sleep Posted Thu, Feb 18, 2010 POST A COMMENT » What is the secret to getting a solid 7 to 8 hours of sleep? Head for the kitchen and enjoy one or two of these 10 foods. They relax tense muscles, quiet buzzing minds, and/or get calming, sleep-inducing hormones - serotonin and melatonin - flowing. Yawning yet? Bananas. They're practically a sleeping pill in a peel. In addition to a bit of soothing melatonin and serotonin, bananas contain magnesium, a muscle relaxant. Chamomile tea. The reason chamomile is such a staple of bedtime tea blends is its mild sedating effect - it's the perfect natural antidote for restless minds/bodies. Warm milk. It's not a myth. Milk has some tryptophan - an amino acid that has a sedative - like effect - and calcium, which helps the brain use tryptophan. Plus there's the psychological throw-back to infancy, when a warm bottle meant "relax, everything's fine." Honey. Drizzle a little in your warm milk or herb tea. Lots of sugar is stimulating, but a little glucose tells your brain to turn off orexin, a recently discovered neurotransmitter that's linked to alertness. Potatoes. A small baked spud won't overwhelm your GI tract, and it clears away acids that can interfere with yawn-inducing tryptophan. To up the soothing effects, mash it with warm milk. Oatmeal. Oats are a rich source of sleep - inviting melatonin, and a small bowl of warm cereal with a splash of maple syrup is cozy - plus if you've got the munchies, it's filling too. Almonds. A handful of these heart-healthy nuts can be snooze-inducing, as they contain both tryptophan and a nice dose of muscle-relaxing magnesium. Flaxseeds. When life goes awry and feeling down is keeping you up, try sprinkling 2 tablespoons of these healthy little seeds on your bedtime oatmeal. They're rich in omega-3 fatty acids, a natural mood lifter. Whole-wheat bread. A slice of toast with your tea and honey will release insulin, which helps tryptophan get to your brain, where it's converted to serotonin and quietly murmurs "time to sleep." Turkey. It's the most famous source of tryptophan, credited with all those Thanksgiving naps. But that's actually modern folklore. Tryptophan works when your stomach's basically empty, not overstuffed, and when there are some carbs around, not tons of protein. But put a lean slice or two on some whole-wheat bread mid-evening, and you've got one of the best sleep inducers in your kitchen. What if none of these foods help you get your zzz's? Check out your sleep habits with this quick RealAge test to find out what's keeping you up at night. http://www.realage.com/health_guides/RLS/intro.aspx For an extra treat, here's the ultimate sleep-inducing snack... Lullaby Muffins Makes 12 low-fat muffins Between the bananas, the whole wheat, and the honeyed touch of sweetness, these muffins are practically an edible lullaby. · 2 cups whole-wheat pastry flour · 1/2 teaspoon salt · 1 tablespoon baking powder · 2 large, very ripe bananas · 1/3 cup applesauce · 1/4 cup honey · 1/2 cup milk or soymilk Preheat oven to 350F. In a large bowl, combine the flour (make sure it's whole-wheat pastry flour or you'll produce golf balls, not muffins), salt, and baking powder. In a blender, puree the bananas; add the applesauce, honey, and milk. Blend well. Pour the banana mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just moistened. Line muffin tins with paper muffin cups, pour in batter, and bake 30 minutes or until tops are lightly brown and slightly springy.
