Good Tuesday Morning.
Frosty outside at 22 degrees this morning. I am able to work at home this morning for a bit, working on my reports and such before heading to town for an afternoon appointment. We watched a movie that had some entertaining moments in it last night; The Ugly Truth. If you are easily offended by language I wouldn't recommend it but if you are in the mood for some raucous humor with a little "romance" in it ... it was worth the Netflix rental. Even hubby found it entertaining!! I also enjoyed Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Matthew McConaughey but hubby wasn't as entertained.
It is very early and I feel hungry. I'm back in my range today but still "up" overall. There appears to be a lot of that going around here on fatsecret among my buddies. Or perhaps, I'm just drawn to those who are like me?? LOL!!! Whatever. I certainly would like to get back closer to that blue line by the end of the week. I've not been recording every day on here ... but still keeping track the old fashioned way ... on paper!! My rings feel looser today and that is good. I definitely feel less puffy.
Okay ... I absolutely MUST pour myself a cup of coffee. Think I better make sure hubby is awake too ... I haven't heard him stir upstairs. BRB
He fell asleep again but is now is the shower. Got myself that first cup of joe too ... HOT!!
I am still having dental issues. I need a root canal but am having a difficult time finding someone I can afford who will do it. I located a dentist here in town who has a good reputation who does them. Called his office yesterday and the woman who answered the phone informed me that they only take patients who will see the doctor for all their dental needs. What? He would rather make no money than some money? Really? I LOVE my dentist. He had shoulder surgery and is no longer physically able to do root canals on molars. I don't want to change offices. In fact, he has a crown awaiting the same tooth as soon as the root canal is done. The specialist doesn't take my insurance and they want $700 up front to do the procedure, my "half" of the expense. I don't have $700. Perhaps I would fall in love with his dentist too ... but I am skeptical and certainly don't want to say I will if I won't. My hubby told me to tell him whatever he wants to hear. I'm not good at that. The office is supposed to call me back AFTER they talk with the dentist and see what he says. Personally I think it is a crock. Blackmail. Guess I'll have to let my fingers do the walking or perhaps call my insurance company or the dental association and complain? I don't know what to do but it makes me nervous having put this off for so long. My tooth is beginning to hurt again ... I don't need complications.
I suppose I better get my rear in gear and get this day moving along. Time to consider what I am grateful for today ...
1. FOUR more days of radiation and I will be accompanying dear hubby for the last three sessions ... he had done so well, I am so proud of him
2. Seeing a drop on the scale this morning ... must keep this going and stay out of the kitchen this morning!!
3. Sunshine and blue skies ... with the hope of warmer temperatures
4. Turkey Pot Roast ... Safeway makes this at their deli counter and it is so tasty!! A great snack if you love dark meat!!
5. The muddy road home drying out in bits ... again ... the hope of Spring in the air!!
Warm thoughts, positive energy, and focus are being sent to all of you today. May blessings of abundance fall upon us all!!

:)) you are one strong cookie M, and may the blessings of abundance fall upon you as well. $700 is real high, but you need to take care of the roots before anything else creep up on you. I praise God for you and your hubby.

Moose, I am right with you with the dentist. I was actually glad you brought it up because it reminded me I had an appoint this morning that I had to cancel. Was supposed to go for my crown but they want all of the money before the crown is finished. I thought that by now I'd had my part-time job lined up but it looks like my old boss is blowing me off...Shoot. I hope you find somebody. I was hoping this woman would say, "Ok, well, just come in and we'll work it out." But no! Keep your eyes on those signs of spring and positive thoughts to you, too!

And I am also not a good liar in those situations! Maybe the dentist will have a different story than whoever you talked to at the front desk. I am still hoping that when the receptionist tells the dentist I had to cancel that he will take pity on me. Maybe it will work out for you too. STranger things have happened!

You know ... what is it with dentists? Whatever happened to customer service? How about seeing a patient before you tell him/her that you would like to be their dentist? Who decides something before you even meet them? UGH!!! It just frosts me. I can't imagine calling the doctor's office and the front desk telling me, well, yes, the doctor will see you but only if you promise to never go see another doctor again. What the hell? Or a therapist saying ... I would love to help you with your depression but only if you promise that I will be your ONLY therapist ... if you can't promise that I'm sorry I won't be able to schedule an appointment, even if you are suicidal. Or how about the local grocer? Yes, we would love to have you shop here ... but you'll have to forgo visiting any other grocers in the area ... we want to supply ALL your needs. Sorry ... ranting.

Better take care of that tooth lady! It could get infected, and the infection could get into your blood stream, and affect your heart. Not cool. I don't know the legalities (sp?) about telling someone that they wont do your root canal if your not a full time patient, but I guess a Dr. can turn away anyone for any reason, just like a restaurant. Its not fair though. Maybe find someone else in / near town? I haven't gotten my crown either, but they say I can wait till next year when my insurance rolls over again... I just hope they are right, and nothing else happens to my tooth.... Anyway, have a great Tuesday lady!!!

Forget about legalities how about ethics? What about caring for someone's health? I know I need to get this taken care of ... guess I better expand my search radius ... small towns are difficult during times like this. My crown is done and paid for ... just need the root canal. Still fuming ...

What about your current dentist? Can't he help suggest a buddy or someone he knows who will help you out since he can't do it? If you haven't tried that route I definitely would. If that doesn't work, I wouldn't hesitate to go see the picky dentist on a "trial" basis for your root canal and then just not go back. What is he going to do? Take the root canal back? Crazy. Yay 4 more radiation!!!!!

Is it possible for a doctor/dentist to refuse a treatment? what about Hyppocratic Oath? does it still mean anything for tses people? What a world we are living in...

P.S...listen to MomoTG about that infection business as it can get very serious, very quickly! While thinking of others, don't forget to make yourself a priority Moose - you have lot of friends counting on you to do just that. It may sound selfish but WE NEED YOU!

Love your No. 5 Only someone who lives in the sticks would understand that so well. It always amazes me when half dries out and the other is still frozen or wet. Fields are like that here too, half green or brown and half covered in snow, Its amazing you have the same problems with dentists over there that we have here in the UK - what is it with dentists?

Don't root canals require you to go from a dentist to an endodontist? hm. You could, maybe, wait til you are in Mexico? I know that maybe a stretch and sound scary but there are good drs there and tons of ppl go across the border here for that. Huge price difference, and some do take insurance. Just a thought, but like MotG says you don't want an infection or be in pain till then. I did my crown in Mexico, after I paid for the RC here. I coulda done both there. Anyway, I love your top 5

Endodontists are the specialists but lots of dentists also are qualified to do root canals. Sort of like many family doctors deliver babies although the specialists are the OB/GYN's. I thought about Mexico ... I wonder what it would cost there. I'll have to figure out something soon ... the pain isn't horrid ... yet. Flaxseed ... once again we find ourselves on similar wavelengths ... I'm sure our city friends think we have lost our minds!! LOL!!

Great idea about dental work in Mexico...I know people here in San Diego who regularly cross the border to see their dentist...very good dentists and specialists. I don't know how much cheaper but it must be a lot. You could probably go online and find out about someone in Puerto Vallarta or wherever you're going this time. It's a small, small world, isn't it?

All I can say is that we all should have been dentists. What a racket they have going. I have been paying for my sons braces forever now! Good luck finding someone. I have dental too but they are on such an old fee schedule that it always costs me money and no braces coverage at all. Hope you had a great day Moose!

Its much cheaper. Do your research online, or make phone calls. You may even know some snowbirds that go to them. I know of my bordering cities but since you are most likely flying directly there, idk. Just sched for the last days of your trip! or get the crown there, but that takes days huh?

The dentist in town here who does root canals as "agreed" to see me for a consultation tomorrow. My regular dentist has emailed him the x-ray on the tooth that needs work. I'll let you all know how that goes. If it goes "south" I think I may look into the Mexico connection. The bummer is I already have the crown made and waiting to be put on here. I have a temp crown on that tooth, just waiting for the darn root canal. I already paid for the crown ... also NOT inexpensive as most of you know. We'll see ... instead of how the toilet swirls perhaps I should change my title to 'as the tooth aches' ...

My day has been okay ... slowly but surely I am making progress on reports I need to write. I never did go into the office today. Instead I worked from home. Bob came home early ... he really is feeling lousy. So I ended up canceling the one appointment I had in town and taking him to radiation instead. We just got home about 20 minutes ago. I am trying to convince him to go to bed ... stubborn man!! LOL!! Only 3 more days and I'll be taking him each day. I hope then he starts to mend. Poor baby!
