I'm fighting the feeling of being in kind of a rut, of eating the same things over and over. Recently I've had enough chicken, and beef to actually be bored with it; I've even had roasted duck, which was tasty, but I won't be buying another one, because they are expensive, and don't really have a lot of meat on them. :-( Pork is great, but is so calorically dense, that it's not practical to eat it all the time when I recently lowered my RDI. Maybe a combination of things is in order; fish, one meal, and pork the next, to kind of balance things out. Time to check the freezer to see what's available. :-) Have a great day everyone.

I know how you feel. I usually try new recipes to take some of the boredom out of my meals and most of the time I find some really good meals. I've recently added some yogurt to my morning because you can only eat so many eggs.

It gives you an opportunity to reflect on who's controlling who doesn't it? I used to fall into the trap of being controlled by my appetite too often. Not saying you are, but your post reminded me. I’m fortunate that I’m married to a sportsman. We eat venison, wild hog, different birds and different freshwater and saltwater fish, that are not available at most stores. How many people get to eat Oryx? Most all game meats are very lean. I know that’s not helpful to you. But you might see if there is a meat or seafood processing plant in your area. Most have a retail section, so you could see what they have for sale. Perhaps some mudbugs would hit the spot? :)

I know the feeling as a couple of months ago, I was so frustrated with the same old, same old...However, you and Gigi came to my rescue with some great ideas to shake things up a bit. I often find that if I look at other's diet calendar that I get inspiration for something new. You are such a good cook that I took many ideas from your journal and calendar. Seafood seems to be my go-to food when I tire of chicken. Last night, I had grilled salmon with shrimp with a pseudo-alfredo sauce on top....thought I had died and gone to Landry's for a special treat. Have you checked out George Stella's cookbook or website...he has some very interesting ways of preparing low carb foods. His story is inspirational as well. I will put on my thinking cap and try to come up with an idea or two for you. Just know that your cooking has inspired me.

LOL Thanks ladies. DLynne; there are a few markets, in my area, that carry an assortment of exotic meats, such as ostrich steaks, ground buffalo/bison, farm raised quail, venison steaks, and even raccoon; but most of those are pretty expensive. The mudbugs/ crawfish tails, are available as well, and I like those fried in either a beer, or a tempura batter; may have to try them as scampi, to make them low carb. :-) Gwen; I know of George Stella's cookbook, and use to have it, but he does tend to use a lot of soy flour in his recipes, which I don't care for, but could find substitutes for; either almond meal, or coconut flour; both of which I have on hand. Any ideas you offer will be welcomed with a smile. And thanks for your vote of confidence. Seafood is a, go to, choice for me as well, as I know I have tilapia, salmon, and some swai fillets in the freezer. I also have an assortment other meats in my freezer; ox tails, corned beef, short ribs, and a few pork roasts, etc, etc, etc... . I just have to, put on my thinking cap, pull something out and figure out how I'm going to cook it. :-)
