Gained quarantine weight. Just bailed out of a bad relationship. Stress. Anxiety. Saw my doctor yesterday about my arm and she strongly suggested I lose weight. she was supportive and gave me info for a free program. I decided to get right to work on my own too. I know what to do, and how to do it. I love healthy food. Once I'm in the healthy habit, I'm good. My addict self just can't stop once I have sugar. I beat alcohol! 5.5 years sober, I can beat sugar. right? right.

Anyway... Away we go!!

First off, congratulations on your sobriety! Sugar addiction is common in recovered alcoholics. My father is 25 years sober, and sugar was/is his Achilles heal. Sugar basically acts in the same centers of the brain as alcohol, so it makes sense. Make sure you are getting enough protein and healthy fat, and you’ll do just fine. You may also have mineral deficiencies fueling your sugar craving, so supplements can also help. If you are willing to put in the work, then yes, you can do this.

Congratulations on the 5.5 years sober. If you can get sober, then sugar is easy to get control of. You can apply the program in any area of your life. It works if you work it.

Thank you! When I first got sober smoking was my crutch. I quit smoking 2 years ago and sugar crept in. I only crave it at night, so it's definitely doing the work alcohol used to do for stress. So far, so good. Progress not perfection!
