Päiväkirja - Tulipgirl6, 10 tammi 14

OK this week I will:

1 - Drink 8 cups of water / day; that's 2 bottles and I have one when I wake up and one before I sleep

2 - Drink 2 green teas / day

3 - Add cinnamon - to flax / fiber shakes

4 - Meet with trainer 2 x / week followed by cardio

5 - Do cardio an additional 2x / week

6- Fight my cold with fresh raw garlic

There I said it.

Any suggestions for things that taste good with cinnamon? It fights insulin resistance!

Also, my nutritionist was getting to me yesterday: she thinks I should be able to lose 1.5 pounds a week, but I am not a machine! It doesn't always work like that!

Wonderful strategy, Tulip! I sometimes put cinnamon in my coffee or tea. You can add to almond milk too.

Hi Tulip here is what I read the other day... And here is the link: http://www.naturalnews.com/034280_honey_cures_cinnamon.html Honey and Cinnamon Benefits Folk wisdom still retains knowledge of the healing properties of both honey and cinnamon. Honey and cinnamon are still used as medicine in many situations, especially among people who, because of distance or income, have reduced access to mainstream health care. Honey possesses natural anti-bacterial properties. Honey poured on wounds or burns prevents infection and promotes healing. Regular consumption of honey and cinnamon together, when combined with an overall healthy diet and moderate activity level, can prevent heart disease by clearing clogged arteries. Drinking honey and cinnamon in lukewarm water results in them moving through the bladder and cleansing it, as well as clearing infections there. Drinking this beverage on a regular basis can also relieve, and in some cases entirely cure, arthritis pain. This drink also strengthens the immune system, helping ward off colds as well as some viruses. Applying a paste of honey and cinnamon to infected gums can ease pain and bleeding as well as slow the progression of the infection. When consumed together, honey and cinnamon can ease digestion, helping to prevent gas. Honey and cinnamon also provide energy, making people more mentally alert and ready for physical activity. The two biggest claims for honey and cinnamon are that they enhance the ability to lose weight, and they are effective against some forms of cancer. While these latter two claims are unproven, however nature does provide an amazing range of natural healing substances, most of which are untested by medical science. Relying exclusively on honey and cinnamon for either weight loss or eliminating cancer is not advisable.

Cinnamon in a baked sweet potato. No other ingredients. I used to have one every day after dinner for desert

Hands down! Cinnamon and butter in the sweet potato is to die for. Well ... it's close to an orgasm ... if I remember those correctly. LMAO!

Mom2Boxers, you're totally right. Add some honey and it's even better! But, the extra fat and sugar is a surefire guilt trip. Btw cayenne pepper is pretty good for your diet- apparently anything that warms your body internally, really.

didn't know that about cinnamon. I think I'll start to use it more. I put cinnamon in my shakes, cereal, fruit salad. Another idea (I love to do this when I crave for apple pie): bake (or grill) some green apple slices put some cinnamon on them and a touch of honey, and some granola bar crumbles. It's delicious.

Nutritionists are still living in the 1970's. I know that they are dedicated professionals but they continue to spew iless than accurate info. Their biggest myth is that of calories in-calories out. As any of us know it just doesn't work that way. Stay focused on your goals and the results will come.

I like cinnamon on cottage cheese with bananas, cinnamon toast, cinnamon on frozen yogurt, cinnamon on popcorn, cinnamon & cayenne on apple toss with spinach, etc. LOVE cinnamon!

mom you are so funny! you guys I have an intolerance to apples and I'm not eating starchy carbs! help! cayenne should help you lose weight also!
14 tammi 14 jäseneltä: Tulipgirl6
Good for you Tulip! I eat a 1/2 sweet potato every once in a while. I eat white potatoes less than that as I try not to eat starchy veggies either. You can add cinnamon to coffee or tea and in meat dishes too as well as the cayenne. Give it a try.

are colored potatoes better for you? i like the blue ones, and the red skin ones too!
14 tammi 14 jäseneltä: Tulipgirl6
No. Don't think so. LMAO!!! I just love potatoes. It's a problem. When trying to lose weight white potatoes are one of the worst foods to eat. the starch and glycemic level is up there. Sweet potatoes are starchy, too, but they are a lot more nutritious that the white potatoes. BUT ... saying this ... it's like saying filtered cigarettes are better than non-filtered cigarettes. (Get the analogy) Both are bad, one better than the other. :)

Hi Tulip. 8 cups of water is roughly 4 normal-sized water bottles. Each water bottle has 16.9 oz. A cup has 8 oz. If you're sticking to your cardio, you're going to want to drink more than 2 bottles a day anyway. Hope you tried the cinnamon & sweet potato concoction and are sticking to your training and cardio more than a month in.

Hi SMS I think at the time that I wrote this I was using quart bottles of water which I coincidentally restocked on today; there's 4 x 8 oz in each bottle. It's funny that you came across my journal entry from over a month ago!
