"Don't give up G/F." Awesome work so far." "That is why you have us buddies...We are here to encourage one another!" I agree with you, " it can get very frustrating, when you don't see a very good outcome at the end of the week." (That's me!) Uhh! ~Ann

that's right tulip - don't forget your past! Also, good for you avoiding some of the pitfalls today. You didn't eat crap and that is a successful day! One day at a time.

Just keep trying, you can do this! Everyone knows I have gotten very frustrated at different times in this weight losing journey to get healthier. I have gotten off and on over and over again, but never completely quit.

Tulipgirl, it takes time to get that excess weight off after you had your baby. You will get there little by little. Congrats for not eating junk food today! :)

Consider at couple of other milestones besides the pounds dropped- things like "I can fit back into my favorite _____" or "the seat belt isn't too snug anymore" (or my favorite right now) "I can finally button the bottom button on my winter coat." This really helps to keep you on track when the scale is moving down slowly.

Wonderful to hear you avoided the "crap" food - baby steps, right! If you can see this as a lifestyle change rather than a diet - you will shoot for feeling better and before you know it, you WILL feel better!

I lost a lot of weight in 2005, then I spent the next 5 years trying to lose the last few kg. I didn't succeed, but my weight just stuck at that 73kg. However, I think my half-hearted attempts at losing a little more weight actually are what helped me maintain the weight I'd got to, a perfectly healthy bmi of 23-24. So, never despair that your eating efforts aren't getting the exact result you want- they are getting you A RESULT, and helping you to maintain the weight you worked so hard to achieve. Oh, and btw, 12lb for a year isn't spectacular weight loss, but you're still 12lb lighter than you were a year ago. Celebrate!
The longer you've kept the weight off, the easier it is to maintain, which is why slower weight loss is more effective in the long-term. If you just rapidly lost ALL the weight you want to then went back to eating how you used to, it wouldn't take very long for it all to find you again.
Your slow and continued weight loss is a real victory and you should be applauded for a great effort! Keep it up.

Slow and steady is good.. You have a better chance of maintaining as you are changing your way of eating gradually and hopefully will not go back to old habits. Even on maintenance I know I have to pay attention or those pounds will start creeping back.

You've done very well. It's hard to be patient, but all progress forward is good, even if it's slow.
