Päiväkirja - sngglebnny, 19 touko 15

Ummmmm, unofficial weigh in and the gym scale says I weigh 190 lbs. That would be a 4 pound gain and I don't feel like I've gained four pounds anywhere. But going by the old adage that muscle weighs more than fat but takes up less space, I guess I'm doing ok.

Yesterday I wore a dress that used to be skin tight, but now it's quite baggy in the back and legs.

I also noticed that the back of my legs are tightening up and smoothing out from all of the hamstring exercises.

My face isn't getting fat, which is usually the first indicator of fat gain.

And I'm seeing even more tone in my belly...like, I'm considering rocking a bikini to the company party in two months tone.

Whatever...Bye, Scale...I'm going to keep lifting these weights because I'm strong and sexy. Onward...

When you lift weights, your muscles retain water to help them heal. This can show on the scale as a temporary gain, no loss or smaller than usual loss. It will go away. And you are correct that muscle is more dense and takes up less room, so you can get smaller without the scale moving much. Just keep going, you are doing great.

Some people lose inches before weight, I am one of those people too and in the beginning I would get frustrated because the scale said one thing and my clothes size decreased. Congrats girl keep up the good work.

Hey SB... long time no comment! Scale weight only tells part of the story. If you are lifting weights alot, you are gaining muscle... and muscle weighs more than fat, so a 160 lb weight lifting female is going to look alot better than a 125 lb skinny-fat female (no muscle). Suggest you get better weekly feedback just by measuring your neck, belly button waist, and hips. These are the 3 measurements used by the NAVY STANDARD BODYFAT method. There are several calulators on line that allow you to quickly punch those numbers in and get a BF% back. That way, while you may see zero movement on the scale weight, you will SEE the reduction in bodyfat and the increase in lean muscle... AND THAT ALWAYS FEELS GOOD! Keep up the good work!
