I had a terrible lucid nightmare last night. It was dark in my room and I was rooted to the bed. I remember realizing that I was dreaming, yet feeling hopeless while being stuck in a state of paralysis. There were people screaming at me from the hallway and walking in and out of my room. The only movement I could make was to sit up and scream through my teeth. It was a horrible feeling. I remember having a similar dream when I was experiencing overwhelming stress 5 years back... I'm convinced it's the stress that caused me to have this nightmare. Needless to say I didn't sleep well.

Kehfeh, i am so sorry you h ad this disturbing dream, and I "hear" your feelings about this. I too think it is most likely stress I am a retired advanced practice nurse and am aware of the psychological and physiological effects high stress can have...there are many ways to decrease stress and "mindful meditation" is one of the BEST (google it there are all kinds of books and articles and aids to geet you started) Start taking care of YOUR self, eat healthy, exercise and meditate. God bless and good luck.

Huge HUG! Sorry to hear that...hoping you can get through this stress, and quickly, and be able to get some sound sleep.

How did you get over your stress back then? I would agree, I have awful dreams when I'm stressed too...trying to run away from an attacker but it's like my feet are like lead...

Sounds like you feel stuck and unheard. Hope the sensation passes soon and your stress levels go down. Take care!

I'v have sleep paralysis before. The first time I experience it I was freaking terrified. I know I was awake but I can't move at all! I tried opening my eyes, I can feel my eyelids but it was so heavy. I tried screaming through my teeth but nothing is just happening. I can literally feel my whole body, from head to the very tip of my toes, heavy and just lying there. I'm pretty sure it only lasted maybe a minute or less, but it felt like 10 min. I looked it up online to see what causes it and what you can do. So if you wake up in a sleep paralysis, just calm down, don't panic and breathe deeply through your nose. Slowly you'll regain movement. I did this the second time I had sleep paralysis and it totally worked. Dehydration is one of the major causes of it so I make sure I drink a lot of water before I sleep and a quick 5 minute conscious mediation lying down. Hope this helps, I know how scary that might have felt.

Stress and probably because you feel like you aren't in 100% control of your own life right now. I'm sorry.
